CALLS FOR A BRIDGE OVER RAILWAY LINE WHERE JOSH, 14, WAS KILLED BY A TRAIN
THE closure of the railway crossing where 14-year-old Josh Travis died after being hit by a train has been extended for six months, with councillors calling for a bridge to be built in its place.
Chestnut Grove crossing in Burton Joyce was initially closed for 21 days after the death of the former Nottingham Forest academy goalkeeper on Wednesday, November 26.
But with the temporary closure due to expire on December 18, Network Rail has now confirmed that the right of way will remain shut until May 26 next year, after an order was approved by Nottinghamshire County Council.
Police were called to the railway line at around 7pm last Wednesday after a report of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, but the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
