City provides backdrop for vision of future haunted by AI

EVERY day, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a bigger part of our lives.

Whether it’s asking Siri for the time or getting Chat GPT to create videos of dogs doing backflips on the side of a mountain, most of us are using some form of the software on a daily basis, whether we realise it or not.

But what would happen if we got to a point where the world was led by AI? What would Nottingham look like, and what would happen to the most vulnerable in our society?

That's the question put forward in science fiction drama The Correction Unit, which has been filmed in Nottingham.

Shooting began in 2023 and is now complete. Director Derry Shillitto, worked with predominantly first-time actors from the city’s Stone Soup Academy, an alternative education school for children who struggled in mainstream education.

It also features a well-known local actor - whose identity has not yet been announced - playing the voice of the AI.
