AIRLINE SAYS INJURED STEPHEN SHOULD HAVE TAKEN OUT INSURANCE

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

THE Nottingham Post is calling on Ryanair to reconsider its heartless refusal to refund train attack hero Stephen Crean's flights to Austria to watch Forest play.

Mr Crean, 61, was on his way back home from Forest's home clash against Manchester United on Saturday when he bravely stepped in to confront a man brandishing a knife on an LNER train service.

Ten people were injured during the terrifying incident and Mr Crean himself was also attacked.

As a dedicated Forest fan, Mr Crean had been planning to travel to Austria on Wednesday to watch them take on SK Sturm Graz last night but was unable to travel due to his injuries.

Ryanair is cruelly refusing to refund his tickets. The budget airline has even suggested Mr Crean should have taken out travel insurance as it doubled-down on its snubbing of the hero.

Fellow Forest fans have now also vowed never to fly with the Irish firm again after its "shocking" treatment of Mr Crean.

The hero described how he grabbed the attacker's arm and engaged in a tussle to protect people on board during Saturday's incident.

As a result the top of Mr Crean’s head was sliced and he suffered seven knife wounds.
