Ange favourite for emotional return to Celtic, but O'Neill is in charge for now

ANGE Postecoglou is emerging as the favourite to make an emotional return to Celtic after Brendan Rodgers resigned as manager on Monday night.

In the meantime, however, another former Red - Martin O'Neill - is back in the Parkhead hot seat after agreeing to take on an interim role while Rodgers' successor is found.

Postecoglou is out of work following his ill-fated eight game, 39-day reign as Nottingham Forest manager.

The Australian, who arrived at the City Ground in September to replaced the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, was relieved of his duties just moments after the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, October 18, which was his sixth defeat in what turned out to be a winless spell on Trentside.

Postecoglou is no stranger on the Green and White side of Glasgow, and is the favourite with the bookmakers and many fans to complete a return.

He won five trophies in two seasons before leaving for Tottenham in the wake of clinching a treble in 2023.
