A collapsed ceiling and mould among problems at posh estate

TENANT SAYS YEARLY SERVICE CHARGE HAS GONE UP FROM £900 TO £2,700

TENANTS and leaseholders at a “beautiful” Nottinghamshire estate have criticised the management company after reporting a range of issues from a ceiling collapse to mould and apparent fire safety issues.

John Warren, a tenant and leaseholder of several properties at the Ferryman Road site, said a tenant in one of the apartment blocks encountered an issue when the ceiling collapsed onto his work desk seconds after he got up.

Prior to the incident, Mr Warren said he'd reported issues with the guttering at the apartment block, which he believed caused the issue.

However, management company Firstport said the issue was to do with a cracked roof tile - rather than blocked gutters - and that the tile had been replaced by workers.

Firstport also said guttering work had been carried out at Mr Warren's properties. However, Mr Warren - who said he compensated a tenant over the damage to the ceiling - said communication could be much better with Firstport.

He said: "The initial fault with the roof was reported almost three months ago. It’s a lack of management and a lack of understanding. It's getting out of control.
