61 snags to tackle before the city's new library opens

A NEW Nottingham City Council library that was supposed to open nearly a year ago still has building problems, including cracked windows and a toilet that doesn't flush.

Sherwood Library still has 61 snagging issues, with the city council wavering in its latest commitment that the building will open this summer.

Problems also include the lift not having a call button, damaged ceiling tiles and new main entrance doors being needed.

The information has been revealed in a Freedom of Information request to the city council.

The council maintains that the 61 snagging issues remain the responsibility of Hockley Developments, the company that had the contract to build the site.

But Hockley Developments says the problems stem from the council wanting to fit out the library itself.

The developer says if it carried out this work instead, the library could have already opened. The fit out process refers to interior work after the exterior has been completed.
