Shortage of Staff : Sub-Registrar offices in cooma

BERHAMPUR: Sub-Registrar Offices are designated to provide legal services for the registration of deeds related to the purchase and sale of properties.

Every day, hundreds of people visit these offices to register their property transactions. However, due to an acute shortage of staff, these registration processes are often delayed, causing severe inconvenience to the public.

People from distant places are frequently seen waiting for hours in the verandahs of these offices, only to return disappointed due to the lack of timely service. This has led to increasing frustration and distress among the citizens. Berhampur city, in Ganjam district, is a glaring example of this issue.

There are two Sub-Registrar offices in Berhampur. Ideally, these two offices should be manned by 2 Sub-Registrars, 2 Head Clerks, 4 Senior Clerks, 14 Junior Clerks, 2 Peons, and 2 Night Watchmen. Unfortunately, the offices are currently operating with only 3 Senior Clerks instead of 4, 7 Junior Clerks instead of 14, just 1 Peon, and no Night Watchman.
