NEET paper leak not through our systems, NTA chief informs MPs

Top officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA) appeared before a Parliamentary panel on Thursday to answer questions about the leaked NEET-UG 2026 question paper, with the agency's director general telling lawmakers that the breach did not occur through NTA's own systems and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into how it happened.

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports questioned NTA Director General Abhishek Singh directly: if the paper was not leaked through their system, then how did it leak, and why did the exam have to be cancelled and held again?

Singh did not offer a direct explanation, instead telling the committee that the CBI is handling the investigation. Opposition MPs demanded that the probe report be placed before the panel. BJP members objected, arguing that the CBI is an independent body and should be allowed to complete its work without interference.
