Azharuddin sworn in as minister in Telangana

Azharuddin said he was ready to work sincerely in any portfolio assigned to him and would focus on "the upliftment of the downtrodden"

Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin was sworn in as a minister in the Telangana Cabinet on Friday, joining Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's team. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan, where Governor Jishnu Dev Verma administered the oath in the presence of senior Congress leaders and the chief minister.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Azharuddin expressed gratitude to the Congress leadership. “I am glad. I thank the high command. My supporters,” he said, acknowledging Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and K C Venugopal for their support.
