US gives 13.8 M more in aid to help flood victims

The P13.8-million will fund shelter-grade tarpaulins, shelter repair kits, and essential household supplies, which will be distributed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

Each shelter repair kit contains basic construction tools and materials to help families begin rebuilding their homes.
The funding will also provide hygiene kits to promote health and sanitation, as well as improve the living conditions in evacuation centers. Beneficiaries will receive soap, buckets, and cleaning supplies.
Ewing expressed gratitude to the various foreign—IOM and the World Food Programme (WFP)—and Philippine-based organizations—the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)—for helping the “affected families recover and rebuild.”
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and US military air assets also worked together to deliver 6,300 DSWD food packs for some 18,000 affected people in Batanes.
