Senior HS tech-voc program gets huge boost from DepEd-TESDA tie-up

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to enhance the quality of technical-vocational education offered under the Senior High School (SHS) program.

Signed by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara and TESDA Director-General Jose Francisco Benitez, the partnership aims to quality-assure the enhanced Technical Professional (TechPro) trackin SHS to better equip Filipino learners with industry-relevant skills and strengthen their readiness for employment or further education.

“Our goal has always been to ensure that every Senior High School graduate is equipped not just with knowledge but with real-world skills,” Angara said. “This partnership with TESDA is a critical step in fulfilling that promise,” he added.

Benitez highlighted TESDA’s crucial role in ensuring that the skills taught in schools meet labor market needs.
