October 17, 2025

The President said culture serves as the foundation of nation-building, helping Filipinos understand themselves as one people with common aspirations.

“If we can define ourselves as one people, then we can also define the needs of those people and be willing to work together to bring us to the point where we have satisfied the needs of our people. That’s how important culture is,” he said.

Preparing for ASEAN 2026

Marcos said the six-month renovation of the PICC is part of the government’s preparations for the country’s chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026.

“We have many visitors coming who are excited to see the country. We will make sure that the Philippines they will see is something they can be proud of,” he said.
