PNP vows to file airtight cases vs Sept 21 rioters, plotters

The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to file strong criminal cases against all those responsible for what it described as riot of a group of masked men during the anti-corruption protest in Manila on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said police investigators are currently collating all the pieces of evidence to pin down not only those who participated in the violent clashes with policemen but also those who planned the riot.

“The investigation is ongoing and part of this is gathering strong pieces of evidence to ensure airtight cases. Let us allow our investigators to focus on their job,” said Nartatez.

“Pero ang tinitiyak ng PNP sa ating mga kababayan sa ngayon ay mananagot ang lahat ng may kinalaman dito (But what the PNP assures is that all those responsible would be held accountable),” he stressed.

Nartatez statement came amid circulating reports that at least three personalities were involved in funding the violent protests.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier said that at least two persons, a lawyer and another from the business sector, were among the brains of the violent incidents in his city.
