NCR cops told: Uphold neutrality, integrity in May polls

Police Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), reminded all Metro Manila policemen to uphold neutrality and integrity for the midterm elections.

The statement was issued as the Philippine National Police (PNP) placed all its units across the country under full alert status starting Saturday, May 3, as part of the intensified security measures for the May polls.

“I call on all personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and unity in the performance of their election duties,” said Aberin.

“Let us promote the sacredness of the electoral process by ensuring that we will be professional in dispensing our security duties,” he added, citing the instruction of national police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.

In stressing the need for all Metro Manila policemen to exercise professionalism, Aberin reiterated the five guiding principles that every police officer must consistently uphold.

This, he said, includes observance of the basics in crime prevention and solution, strict adherence to Police Operational Procedures, and choosing to do what is right, even in challenging situations.

He also emphasized the importance of avoiding any form of illegal activity, regardless of circumstances, and urged everyone to allow their actions to be guided by faith and closeness to God.
