MAP joins growing opposition to mandated wage increase

The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) is urging the government to focus on reducing high costs across commodities and services over wage increase.

MAP joined other business groups such as the Makati Business Club (MBC), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), and the Employers' Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) in opposing the legislated P200 daily minimum wage increase recently passed by the House of Representatives.

MAP, composed of the country's leading business executives, said the executive and legislative branches of the government should focus their attention on the unbalanced wage-to-cost ratio nationwide to alleviate the burden on minimum-wage-earning Filipino workers and their families.
