Motorists traversing through the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will pay higher fees beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9, following the approval of the third and final tranche of toll adjustments.

- BY DEXTER BARRO

Under the new toll matrix, motorists with Class 1 vehicles will pay an additional P0.64 per kilometer (km), P1.29 for Class 2, and P1.93 for Class 3.

NLEX Corp., operator of SCTEX, said the adjusted toll was in accordance with the approval of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

The additional rates are part of the approved petitions in 2020 and 2022 for periodic adjustments in SCTEX which were due in 2021 and 2023.

NLEX Corp. stated that it has agreed with the TRB and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to implement the adjustments in three tranches over a three-year period to minimize the impact on motorists.
