Breakfast with love
Manila Bulletin
|May 4, 2024
Wake up early! It is one of the simplest, yet most effective ways to share breakfast with the people you love. But in a world inhabited by people obsessed with social media and the internet, that is easier said than done.
-
Many of us have the habit of spending the night glued to screens, watching films and short reels, playing video games, texting, blogging or vlogging, and posting or reposting selfies and statuses. Inevitably, we wake up late the next morning. We rush through our morning routines and panic when we check the clock. We are already behind schedule!
Waking up late forces us to live in a fast-forward mode. Everything around us whizzes by. We barely manage to prepare a decent breakfast, let alone eat leisurely and mindfully. At the table, we overlook our loved ones, missing their quiet attempts to start a conversation. We maintain this hurried rhythm through the day. Then evening falls, and the vicious cycle begins again: we sleep late, wake up late, and rush through our waking hours.
But what if we could break that cycle at least once a week? What if we made Sunday breakfast sacred, animated, joyful, and full of love?
