CORRIE STAR TO BE HANDED PRESTIGIOUS AWARD AT MANCHESTER PRIDE

CORONATION Street star Sue Devaney is to receive a special award at this year’s Manchester Pride.

The actress, who hails from Ashton-under-Lyne, will be given the Your Manchester Icon award at this weekend's event, which recognises outstanding contributions to Greater Manchester and its LGBT community.

Sue is the joint recipient of this year’s honour, alongside award-winning screenwriter Russell T Davies, best known for Queer as Folk which was set in Manchester - and Doctor Who.

Corrie star Sue has recently won acclaim for her portrayal of Debbie Webster after the character was diagnosed with early-onset vascular dementia. The star revealed her storyline will run until at least 2027.
