Tributes to star baker Eileen

A MUCH-LOVED gran who ran a popular bakery in Greater Manchester for more than four decades has sadly passed away.

Eileen Harrop was a familiar face behind the counter of her family shop Harrops of Failsworth, where she worked alongside her husband Rodney, who she met while working at Buckleys bakery in Uppermill.

The pair opened their own Dunkerley Avenue bakery in October 1967 and ran it for 43 years until 2010 when they retired to North Wales after Rodney suffered a stroke and Eileen became his full-time carer.
