COUNCIL VOWS TO STEP UP RESPONSE AFTER 'NEGLECT' RAP
RESIDENTS have been left 'disgusted and embarrassed' by an 'avalanche' of rubbish blighting their neighbourhood.
An area along Medlock Road, near Woodhouses in Oldham, has become a hotbed for fly-tipping over several months.
Images show the staggering extent of the problem, with abandoned fridges, mattresses and toys and even a sheep's skull among the piled-up rubbish.
"It's a disgrace," said Mark Brooks, 63, who posted a video of the mess on social media. "I live in the village and pass it every day. It's like going into a public tip. That's how bad it is. I'm just fed up."
The Woodhouses resident owns a cleaning business, but says he would be concerned to approach the rubbish out of fear of 'syringes, dirty diapers and rats. And he's not the only concerned resident.
