Mum hid knives and lied to cops after fatal stabbing

A MUM hid knives and lied to police in a bid to protect her ex-partner after a drink-fuelled killing on New Year's Eve.

Hassan Suliman fatally stabbed Alberto Ursu as the pair faced off in a knife fight in the street.

After the killing, Suliman’s ex Karla Pukutova hid the knives wielded by both men and lied to police about what had happened.

After a trial, Suliman, 31, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

Pukutova, also 31, wept in the dock after she was convicted of perverting the course of justice. The pair will be sentenced in November.

Manchester Crown Court heard that the horror stabbing came after a boozy family party in Rochdale to bring in the New Year.

Suliman and Mr Ursu were at a gathering at Pukutova’s home on Essex Street with a number of family members. Mr Ursu, 38, was in a relationship with Pukutova’s sister.
