Loved ones in vow after murder victim's inquest
THE family of a much-loved dad who was callously murdered by two men on licence from prison say they 'should not have been in a position to commit this horrific crime.
It comes as a coroner ruled there were 'serious failings' in the management of the killers of Ashley Walsh.
Ashley 34, from Failsworth, was hit over the head with a hammer and stabbed before his body was dismembered and dumped in four suitcases in a park in Collyhurst.
His killers, Gerard McGlacken and his nephew Aaron Evitt, were out on licence after being recently released from prison after serving a sentence for an attempted burglary.
McGlacken was also investigated by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), and visited by an officer a month before the murder, after trying to import an illegal knife. However, he was simply 'warned' and 'educated' with the Probation Service not being informed, the inquest heard.
