Questions over methods of IVF pioneer as two Mancunians shocked to discover they were fathered by lab technician
TWO Mancunians whose mothers attended a Greater Manchester fertility clinic in the 1970s have made the shock discovery they were fathered by the same lab technician - with questions now being raised about the methods of one of the pioneers of IVF.
Obstetrician and gynaecologist Patrick Steptoe, who died in 1988, helped develop in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and ran a fertility clinic at Oldham and District General Hospital, now Royal Oldham Hospital.
The parents of Roz Snyder, 52, and David Gertler, 51 both now based in Greater Manchester - attended the clinic after struggling to conceive.
