Pair fired up for 'emotional' run

Fundraising firefighters will run half-marathon in full kit wearing breathing apparatus and carrying 50kg as tribute to friend

FIREFIGHTERS Dan Jackson and Chris Prodromis are veterans of tough charity treks. But none will be as challenging or emotionally charged as the one they are doing today.

The pair will run the Manchester half marathon in full kit, wearing breathing apparatus, weighing 20kg, and carrying a 50kg dummy. But the memory of a special woman will spur them on.

Their friend, Charlotte Jones, was diagnosed in February this year with Stage 4 bowel cancer, which spread to her lungs and liver. Charlotte lived in Glossop with her lifelong partner Colin and their baby son Maximus, who is only one year old. Charlotte married Colin in June but sadly died the following week aged just 32.
