IN-FORM GRANT HITS TOP GEAR AS AMMANFORD SUFFER DEFEAT

Ammanford won the toss and batted first on a scorching afternoon.

Owain Baxter (24) and Dylan Driscoll (30) looked in decent form, but were unable to convert their good starts into match-defining knocks.

At 67-5 Ammanford were heading for trouble, but a 76-run partnership between Josef Davies (61) and Jac Kenchington (34) rescued matters.

Some careless batting late on deprived Ammanford of a precious extra batting point, and they closed on 192 all out. Oliver Rogers took 4-33 for Bont.

The home side's batters made their intentions clear from the off, and an opening stand of 125 in 19 overs put the result beyond doubt.

Richard Grant (84) and Ioan Phillips (49) stroked and smashed boundaries to all corners of the ground, while Cameron Herring and skipper Matthew Fisher finished matters off with few difficulties.

Bont passed the Ammanford total with 20 overs to spare.

Ammanford remain sixth thanks to other results going their way, while Bont move up to third place.

On Saturday Ammanford welcome Usk to the Park.

In Premier League, 2, Mumbles won by five wickets at Carmarthen wanderers.

The home side were left to rue their decision to bat first as they were dismissed for 127.

It could have been much worse but for some valuable late-order runs from Liam Rogers (29). Max Phillips took 5-22.

Mumbles skipper Aneurin Norman gave his side the perfect platform in their reply with 41, and the visitors reached their target in the 29th over.

Ynysygerwn won by five wickets at Dafen Welfare.

The Llanelli side were all out for 196, with almost half of their runs coming from the bat of opener Simon Holliday, who scored an excellent 94.
