Farmhand launched violent attack on stranger
Llanelli Star
|November 19, 2025
A FARMWORKER launched an unprovoked attack on a stranger telling his victim: “I work with bulls... this will hurt.”
Liam Mann punched, throttled and kicked the male, leaving him battered and bruised and suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Swansea Crown Court heard the 35-year-old defendant had previous convictions for sexual offences, but none for violence, and his barrister described the events of the night in question as being out of character for her client.
Jailing Mann, a judge said she had concerns about whether there was a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.
Emily Bennet, prosecuting, told the court that on the night of May 3 this year the defendant turned up at a house in Pentremeurig Road, Carmarthen, where there were a number of people including a woman with whom he had previously had a sexual relationship.
The court heard that Mann began shouting the name of the woman and a short time later a man came downstairs, sat on the sofa and started putting his shoes on.
The defendant then launched an attack on the man - who was unknown to him - pushing him to the floor before getting on top of him and repeatedly punching him to the face.
