Murder accused discarded coat after altercation

THE man charged with the murder of Matthew Daulby in a street brawl in Ormskirk discarded his jacket in a nearby park following the altercation, a court heard.

The 19-year-old died after suffering a knife wound to his chest during the “violent, fast moving incident” on Railway Road, Ormskirk, on July 29, 2023.

Thomas Dures (right), 21, is on trial at Preston Crown Court accused of murdering Matthew, as well as injuring another man and being involved in violent disorder.

Dures denies murder but the prosecution alleges he was the person wielding the knife that caused the fatal injury to Matthew.
