ANDY Crosby admitted that his Tranmere Rovers side caused themselves unnecessary problems and that their mistakes cost them vital points as they lost 4-2 away at League Two high-flyers Walsall.

Rovers’ goals from Joe Ironside and Billy Blacker were cancelled out by Daniel Kanu, Albert Adomah and an Evan Weir double in a game where the away side dominated possession for large periods.

Crosby said: “We created a number of opportunities, a number of chances against them but to come away to a team who are third in the table and score two but walk away with nothing means that we haven't defended individually or collectively well enough.”

Tranmere seemed to be the better side in the first 45 minutes and were ultimately unlucky to enter halftime with a 2-1 deficit after Weir scored his second deep into stoppage time with a powerful half-volley, following some sloppy defensive play from the visitors.
