Tenants left without water and electricity

HUNDREDS of people in a Merseyside tower block next to a major demolition site were without electricity or water yesterday.

The issue was causing major problems for residents, including mothers with babies relying on bottle feeds, according to those involved.

Carl Nichols, one of the residents at Strand House, said all 123 households were affected by the power cut and water supply issues.

The tower block is adjacent to the Bootle Strand shopping centre, which is being partially demolished by Sefton Council.

Mr Nichols said: "The power is off in the whole building and parts of The Strand shopping centre.
