MAN IN TWO-YEAR FIGHT WITH NISSAN OVER REPAIRS TO £30K VAN

Andrew's £30,000 Nissan truck on the dealership forecourt

A MAN has been embroiled in a bitter two-year battle with an international motoring giant after refusing to fork out thousands for repairs which he says ought to be under warranty.

Andrew Dunkerley’s £30,000 Nissan pickup truck has stood abandoned on the forecourt of the dealership on Sefton Street, Toxteth, since it broke down in February 2023.

Andrew, who bought the pickup new in September 2021, says Nissan is responsible for carrying out vital repairs to the vehicle, as it was still under warranty when its propeller shaft broke 14 months after purchase. Nissan say the case is currently being reviewed by the Motor Ombudsman.

Andrew, 45, said the pickup truck started having problems about a year after he bought it, and that he took it to the Nissan dealership several times before it eventually stopped working completely.

He said: “It was making a horrible noise and I could see the dashboard and mirrors around me physically shaking. It was horrifying and very unnerving. I came off the motorway and went to the dealership and said that it was now shaking.

“They said they could look at it in a few days, but bluntly refused to provide a courtesy vehicle.”
