Massive pipeline 'to cross Wirral'
Liverpool Echo
|January 15, 2026
A NEW map shows where parts of Wirral could be dug up to make way for a major project to store carbon dioxide under the Irish Sea.

Potential routes for the pipe across Wirral are highlighted
Those behind the project said it would help protect jobs and tackle climate change.
This week, people were asked for feedback on the Peak Cluster project and consultation will run to February 27.
The project brings together four cement and lime producers in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
They are planning to develop carbon capture facilities at their sites, which will take carbon dioxide from production, transport it, and store it underground.
These gas emissions would then be taken by a pipe through Cheshire and Wirral and out to sea.
