Lower Breck ROAD to glory

Less than a week after L4 was painted in red after Liverpool romped to the Premier League title, there’s some more silverware for the region.

Jesse Dowling and Elliot Hughes were the heroes on Saturday afternoon as they overcame the ten-man Storks, hailing from Burnley in Lancashire.

It follows on from last weekend's comeback win in the semi-final orchestrated by former Blackburn Rovers prospect Sam Burns - who scored twice to beat West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The Breck, managed by Gary Moore, capped a formidable, record-breaking season after picking up the highest points tally ever and not earning promotion.

They finished their 46-game campaign with a whopping 106 points, only to be beaten to the title by former Football League side Bury on the final day.

The club, who will play in the eighth tier as a result of Saturday's promotion via the play-offs, are sandwiched between two Premier League giants.

Stanley Park separates Everton and Liverpool but down Priory Road and onto Lower Breck Road, playing on an artificial pitch attached to Anfield Sports and Community Centre, is Lower Breck, who were only founded 15 years ago.
