Full steam ahead for historic vessel

THE world's last seagoing paddle steamer is to make its Merseyside return as it celebrates a special anniversary.

The paddle steamer Waverley was built in Glasgow for the London and North Eastern Railway and launched 80 years ago in October 1946.

She has operated in preservation since 1975, carrying over six million passengers and sailing around the UK. Waverley will return to Merseyside from June 19 to June 22 with a variety of different cruises.
