Running in honour of sport legends

An intrepid runner was getting ready to clock up more than 3000 miles in 12 months in a tribute to two local sporting legends.
-
Dedicated Maurice Donohue, who lives in Strathleven, had run 2505 miles - and also wore through five pairs of running shoes in the process.
The 53-year-old running fanatic began the mammoth feat to help raise awareness of charities Race Against Dementia and Sporting Memories which are special as his 83-year-old dad - also called Maurice - was diagnosed with dementia seven years prior.
The dad-of-two was donning his trainers with the support of local sporting heroes - F1 hero Sir Jackie Stewart and Olympic 10k gold medallist Lachie Stewart, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
In tribute to Lachie he was running a 10k every day for a year.
Maurice also set himself a challenge of running 27 half-marathons at motorsport race tracks - as a tribute to Race Against Dementia founder Sir Jackie.
