Message from Kayleigh story 'as important a decade on'

THE message of a police film, based on the tragic death of teenager Kayleigh Haywood is “as important now for our young people as it has been across the past 10 years’, the county force has said.

The award-winning Kayleigh’s Love Story was made by Leicestershire Police, with the support of Kayleigh’s family, to highlight the dangers to young people of online grooming.

Ten years since Kayleigh’s death, it continues to be shown and discussed in schools informing, warning and educating thousands of young people.

The Measham schoolgirl was raped and murdered in 2015 after going to visit a man in Ibstock. She had met him online.

Detective Superintendent Helen Schofield said: “Our thoughts very much remain with Kayleigh and with her family and friends.
