MOTORIST PULLED OVER AS HE DROVE HIS NEW CAR BACK HOME

- By TOM MACK

A DRIVER heading home with a new car was pulled over by police officers who wrongly thought he was uninsured after running the number plates.

It turned out Neal Patel was insured - but the officers also noticed he seemed to be intoxicated in some way.

They carried out a breath test that showed zero alcohol in his system, so they carried out a saliva test for drugs, which was positive.

He was arrested and a blood sample taken later showed he was about three times the legal limit for cannabis in his system.

It was the second time he had been caught drug-driving.
