'It's like Christmas Day for us'

TENS of thousands of Sikhs took part in a procession through the city centre to mark the birthday of the founder of their religion.

Each year, the Nagar Kirtan procession takes place in Leicester, with those taking part going from Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara on East Park Road in Spinney Hills to the Holy Bones gurdwara near St Nicholas Circle.

The parade yesterday included city centre streets such as Charles Street, Humberstone Gate and the High Street.
