Drunken man tried to punch motorist who parked outside house

A MAN shouted “get off my drive” before trying to punch a motorist who had parked across two parking spaces in a Leicester street.

The victim, who was still sitting in his car, had stopped across two bays in Hawkins Road, outside the home of 37-year-old Jamie Smith.

Leicester Magistrates' Court heard how the victim was sitting in his car when he heard Smith, who had been drinking, loudly swearing at him from a downstairs window and shouting “get off my drive”.

Even though the victim started his vehicle to move it, Smith came out and launched his assault.

Prosecutor Ravinder Darroch said: “The complainant started to reverse and the defendant exited the address and approached the car and opened the passenger front door, leaning over to where the complainant was sitting.
