Awards handed out in tribute to stalwarts of the sport

EACH year the Leicester and District League award trophies to various players and officials for services rendered and there are three prominent awards linked to people with interesting backgrounds, writes
One such is the Phil Reid Memorial Trophy awarded to those with high contributions, won this year by league secretary Tim Cawston.
Phil back in the day was a hard-working individual for the sport, being the front man for the County Association, as well as contributing to the monthly national Table Tennis News in the 1960s and 70s.
He also found time to write a book about the Hungarian and British table tennis legend Victor Barna.

Geoff Parsons, secretary of Loughbrough Unicorn, won the AF Hayes Trophy, for contributions by club secretaries.
