Anti-social risk cited as children's home refused
Leicester Mercury
|January 10, 2026
PLANS for a children’s home in a residential area have been thrown out, with fears of antisocial behaviour one of the reasons for refusal.
Applicant Goyal put the plans forward for the home in Launde Road, Oadby.
However, Adrian Thorpe, head of built environment at Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, made the decision to refuse the home, saying the fear of crime or antisocial behaviour would “undermine community safety and cohesion, and noise and disturbance “is likely to be harmful” in the area.
The decision note also said the application did not adequately demonstrate that the change to a children’s home was required in the area.
