LEICESTER’S adventure playgrounds are once again under threat as conversations turn to next year’s city council budget.

In a last-minute U-turn, the cash-strapped authority found almost £1 million to see the nine sites through this financial year.

But city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby has warned that ongoing financial support is not a possibility given the “massive hole” in the council's budget.

He said: “Sadly, given the financial outlook for the authority, cost reductions must be found in discretionary services.
