Where and why: A beautiful, four-star boutique hotel, The Cottage in the Wood is perched on a hillside in Great Malvern, overlooking the Cotswolds countryside of surrounding Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
The views are everything at this place, even for someone who grew up in the area and is familiar with the landscape.
I found the panorama from my “Best” double room, one of 32 split between the main building and nearby Coach House, breathtaking from huge sash windows offering beautiful views of the valley.
