We want to open the doors to a fulfilling career

At this week's official opening, vet students already studying at the university - the course has begun to operate before the new building was complete using part of its revamped Greenbank building - showed people around the new labs and teaching rooms.

Among those was 20-year-old Izzy Scovell, from Chorley.

She said: "I am in my second year now and it's a fantastic course and we're so excited to start using this new building.

"In my first year I lived at home but I enjoyed being in Preston so much I decided to come and live on campus this year and I am glad I did as it's been a great experience."

During the opening event both Professor Baldwin and the dean of veterinary medicine at the university, Dr Heather Bacon OBE, stressed the need to make veterinary medicine more representative.
