Trials, tribulations and the life journey of teenage super-soldier
Lancashire Evening Post
|July 10, 2025
A baby girl is stolen from a covert Romanian research facility by her mother and father, who are then pursued by a dark and sinister CIA-backed force.
-
The father and baby daughter escape into the forest wilderness of Poland after the mother is killed during the pursuit and the young girl is raised by papa to be an instrument of survival and deadly force.
Hanna, the TV series now showing on Amazon Prime, picks up again when the girl, Esme Creed-Miles as Hanna, is 15 years old and is being taught daily by her father (Joel Kinnaman as Erik Heller), how to survive and how to kill in case her pursuers decide to drop in unexpectedly.
Erik was once hired to recruit pregnant women into a CIA programme, code name UTRAX, where the children's DNA was enhanced in order to create super-soldiers.
But the story unfolds that Erik fell in love with Johanna, Hanna's mother, he rescues their baby and they flee. The CIA then orders their onsite agent, Marissa, to shut down the project and eliminate all the babies.
The TV series is based on the movie Hanna, released in 2011, which stars Saoirse Ronan as Hanna and her ex-CIA operative father (played by Eric Bana), and Cate Blanchett as a rogue CIA agent who hunts them.
