Students across the region see a rise in their A-level grades

Figures released alongside the A-level results yesterday showed an increase in the number of passes across the region.

The figures show the percentage of A-level entries in the north west achieving the top grade of A* this year was 8.3 per cent, up from eight per cent last year and 6.9 per cent in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nationally, 9.4 per cent of entries received an A*. This is also up on last year (9.3 per cent) and higher than 2019 (7.7 per cent).
