Pub boss surprised by heritage group backlash to new murals

Feathers are flying after giant, fun art images were painted on the walls of a Garstang pub.

Eagle and Child tenant Mick O’Hara recently arranged for the huge murals, including one of a giant eagle holding a pint, to be painted on walls of the weind (walkway) leading to the High Street hostelry.

But the artwork has annoyed heritage campaigners who have successfully lobbied for a probe into the paintings, which are within the town centre conservation zone.

A spokesperson for Garstang and District Heritage Society said: "Garstang's weinds are of special historic interest and are within the Garstang Conservation Area.
