I don’t know where to begin. Every starting point feels wrong, sinful, as if even narrating it gives life to the shame it carries.

I am talking about extramarital affairs, a phenomenon that has grown silently, yet alarmingly, across Kashmir.

What worries me more is that some have started perceiving it as cool, modern, or acceptable.

That normalization is catastrophic. It is shaking the moral foundations of our society, but still, almost no one is speaking up.

This is not just about men or women. It involves both: fathers, mothers, husbands, wives.

People we trust to uphold the family, the very anchor of society, are breaking the bonds that hold us together. And where are the voices to guide us?

Religious scholars, who once reminded us of values, are either silent or preoccupied with sectarian disputes, debating Shia and Sunni supremacy, while families and children battle the chaos silently, often alone.

During my research, I came across the term “Sugar Daddy.” Google can define it, but the reality is here in our own towns and cities. It is disgraceful to see older men, sometimes grandfathers in age, approaching girls barely in their twenties. Some young women accept these ar rangements for money, gifts, or status,

Strip away the euphemisms, and it is an exchange of lust and greed masquerading as a relationship.
