J&K’s Health Sector Shows Progress in 2025

Jammu and Kashmir’s health sector witnessed visible progress in 2025 through infrastructure upgrades, policy initiatives and expanded services, but persistent challenges continue to strain the system, threatening to dilute these gains.
The government allocated %124.83 crore this year to strengthen medical infrastructure, including CT scans at GMC Jammu, MRI facilities at GMCs Baramulla, Kathua and Rajouri, a Cath Lab at GMC Doda, a PET scan at GMC Srinagar, and the rollout of 80 telemedicine units across J&K. The proposed second PET scan facility in Kashmir has been welcomed, given that SKIMS Soura currently handles the entire Valley's cancer load.
