Carmakers Slash Prices up to ₹4.65 Lakh After GST Rate Cut

SRINAGAR: Automakers across India have announced sweeping price cuts of up to ₹4.65 lakh after the government slashed GST on cars from 28% to 18%, a move set to boost festive season sales and make small and midsize vehicles more affordable for buyers.
From Hyundai to Tata Motors, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Kia, Toyota, Skoda, and Volkswagen, discounts range from ₹30,000 to ₹4.65 lakh, effective September 22, 2025.
The Indian government recently reduced GST on cars from 28% to 18%, making small and mid-segment vehicles more affordable. Conversely, the GST on luxury cars has risen to 40%. However, with the removal of the additional cess, even premium SUVs and high-end cars are seeing effective price drops.
