IT WAS one of the all-time classic Champions League knockouts.

After a season of disappointment in the Premier League - Chelsea were to finish third while Liverpool missed out on the title behind Manchester United - interim Blues boss Guus Hiddink steered his side into a European semi-final via this eight-goal thriller.

Chelsea, who'd discarded previous boss Luiz Felipe Scolari after a 2-0 loss to Liverpool and 0-0 draw with Hull, led 3-1 from the first leg.
